Getzville Fire Company is an all-volunteer fire department, serving fire district 11 in Amherst , New York. GFC's volunteers include of the “active” fire company, and the Getzville Fireman's Association. Associated with these volunteers are the members of the Ladies Auxiliary and Explorer Post 111.

The Getzville Fire Company was established in 1917 by members of the Getzville community who recognized a need. Working together, neighbors organized with the aim of providing fire protection for their homes, farms, and businesses. Managing to grow and thrive as an integral part of the community through World wars, expanding communities, changing economies, and many challenges, our volunteers remain committed to the community even as the scope and services of the fire company have changed over the years.

As the fire service and times have changed, our volunteers have seen and met the needs of the communities within of District, and neighboring areas. Fire protection is just one of the servicesGetzville Fire Company provides. With population growth increasing the district's daytime and residential population, emergency medical services and certain rescue operations such as vehicle extrication now comprise a much higher percentage of our responses than fire-related incidents.

From the day of our founding, the Getzville Fire Company has stayed true to its all-volunteer roots. Time may have broadened our focus, and our need for more specialized training, however, we stand together today, now more than ever ready to meet any emergency called upon.

Getzville Fire Company is now as ever…
